REMEMBERING BILL HARVEY

The Bexley community and our foundation lost a special friend when William “Bill” Harvey passed away on March 31. Bill, (along with his wife, Mo who survives him) was a long time Bexley resident. Bill was appointed Service Director for the City of Bexley and later elected as Auditor for the City. Having served in the U.S. Army, 1st Infantry Division, Bill considered his fellow Vietnam Veterans among his closest friends and was a long term member of American Legion Bexley Post 430.

Bill worked with fellow members of Post 430 to establish a scholarship fund at the Bexley Education Foundation that would benefit a student with a parent, guardian, grandparent or sibling that has served, or is currently serving, in any branch of the US Military. The fund honors fellow Army veteran Michael Thrush for his active volunteerism with Post 430 where he served as a vice president. Thrush passed away in 2022. The first American Legion Post 430/Michael Thrush Memorial Scholarship was awarded to a BHS senior in 2023. The scholarship will continue in perpetuity thanks to the effort of Bill Harvey.
