2025 Bexley Educator of the Year

Bexley High School Math teacher Mark Hayman is the 2025 Bexley Educator of the Year. The award is presented annually to a Bexley educator whose leadership, dedication, extraordinary achievements and commitment to the classroom and the community have made a difference in students’ lives. Bexley High School students and Math teachers lined the third floor hallway of the high school for the surprise announcement on April 28th.

Hayman began his career at Bexley as a student teacher with Becky Manley in 1990 before taking a full time position with the School District starting in 1991. He and his wife Amy, a former Cassigham Fourth Grade teacher, are proud parents of son Tyler and daughter Kaiti and grandson Lincoln who was a special guest for the surprise announcement.

In his nomination for the award, teaching colleagues and peers alike shared their admiration and respect for Hayman’s skill as a mathematician. They cited his ability to connect with students to make learning such rigorous contect fun while upholding high standards and challenging them to reach their full potential. He was recognized as an educator who infuses the learning process with great compassion and kindness.

Hayman is known for arriving extremely early in the morning, welcoming students to pop into his classroom anytime during the day and staying late in the day to ensure any student who needs help can receive it. He has devoted himself to guiding and preparing every student in his classes to find success both in and outside of the classroom. That devotion will be deeply missed as Hayman retires from teaching at the end of this school year.

The Bexley Educator of the Year Award is sponsored by the Glick Family Fund at the Columbus Jewish Foundation and facilitated by the Bexley Education Foundation.
